What to expect

Appointments

As you know, the time we spend with our patients is valuable. When you arrive on time to your appointment we are able to manage our patient schedule and devote more time to all of our patients. If the doctor doesn’t have an available appointment time for you, you may schedule an appointment with one of our team members and they will make sure you are able to speak with the doctor.

  • If you are unable to keep your appointment, please call our office as soon as possible. This courtesy allows us to give another patient, waiting for an appointment, the opportunity for an appointment.
  • If you are calling to schedule or reschedule your appointment, and we are not available, please leave a detailed voicemail message with the following information:
    • Your full name, please spell it out for us
    • The phone number where you can be reached
    • The type of appointment you need to schedule
  • If you are more than 30 minutes late to your appointment, we will try to work your appointment back into the schedule but you must be prepared to wait.

Please note that our office is closed during most holidays.

What to Bring to Your Appointment

Please make sure that you bring the following information, questions and concerns to your appointment. In addition, please bring the following:

Prescriptions and Prescription Refills

For your protection, refills and prescriptions will be filled during regular business hours. This is because we need access to your medical records to ensure you receive the correct medications and approvals from your insurance company, if needed.

For most of our patients currently undergoing treatment, we prescribe certain medications that are considered specialty drugs. These prescriptions are submitted to your specialty pharmacy designated by your insurance carrier.

The process of prescribing specialty drugs consists of the following:

  • Faxing a completed form or prescription copy to the specialty pharmacy
  • Waiting 24 – 48 hours for a confirmation of receipt of the prescription by the specialty pharmacy
  • Verification of coverage and eligibility for the prescribed drug(s). This can take 24 – 72 hours to be processed.

After waiting for the above-mentioned steps to be completed, we will receive information as to the status of the prescription(s). If the prescription has been denied, our office will begin the appeal process. This process takes additional time and is solely dictated by your insurance company.

Phone Calls to the Office

All calls to our physician or physician assistants will be processed by the front desk. When you leave a message, please make sure it is a detailed message with your full name, reason for your call, and a phone number where you may be reached.

Our team’s goal is to return your call the same day, however there may be circumstances when the calls are returned the next business day. Please make it clear if you need us to call you back within the next couple of hours.
